Big Upcoming Games (With Lots of Midnight Releases)

Some people are going to be sad that summer is coming to a close and fall is just around the corner. Although fall can mean cold weather and for others school, it is also a tremendous time in the game industry for flagship, game-of-the-year contending, ultra-quality games to release. This year is no exception.
In fact, this year is shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory with mammoth game after mammoth game. Below I've listed which big games you should watch out for and which one's we're doing midnight releases for.
This is an ever-growing list of games as I will be adding more in the coming days and adding if we are doing any more midnight releases as well.

Today is a fairly good day for games if you like your quality Japanese developed games - And how could you not, they're always so creative!
First up we've got El Shaddai for the X360 and PS3. This action platformer comes from most of the developers from the now defunct game company Clover. Most of the developers merged with Ignition Entertainment (Who is developing the game) who haven't made too much of a bang yet in the game industry but with this new batch of programmers from the great studio who brought us Okami and Viewtiful Joe there is huge promise for this title. Development of the game is lead by the lead character designer of Devil May Cry and Okami.
El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron - $59.99 (X360, PS3)
Secondly we have No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise for the PS3, with compatibility for the PSMove.
This is actually a remake of the original Wii game No More Heroes and retains all of it's bloody goodness. The game features an immense anime vibe with copious amounts of arterial gore similar to one of my favorite ultra-violent Japanese movies out there, Ichi The Killer (Kid's. Don't watch this movie). If you haven't already given this a shot on the Wii then it's a great time to play it with this good looking Hi Def makeover and little gameplay tweaks that make it the definitive version to own.
No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise - $39.99 (PS3)
Nintendo 3DS Price Drop
Posted By John On August 14, 2011| Found in: Game News, Store News | Leave a comment
Only five months after it's initial release the 3DS has already price dropped to $169.99.
Yes, I was one of the early adopters and bought this day one for $249.99. However, I don't regret that decision, I actually like the 3DS. It's been a while since I've actually owned a DS so having a system that can play not just all of the new 3DS Games but all of the previous DS lineup as well was a big draw for me.
A big addition to the DS technology besides the addition of 3D is the thumbstick which not only feels great playing all of the 3D heavy 3DS games but also going back and playing games like Mario 64 DS with the joystick make it feel much better than being forced to use the directional pad. The addition of the Nintendo E-Store, and Virtual Console on the 3DS was a great idea to get some extra life out of the system. If you're in to online digital buying then this is going to be home sweet home. On the 3DS Virtual Console they've got a growing selection of Original Game Boy games such as Super Mario Land and Zelda: Links Awakening.
Zelda:Links Awakening (Now available on the 3DS Virtual Console).
The actual 3DS game library itself is growing and there's already a killer app for the system - The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. Although a remake of a N64 classic so much care has been taken to update the graphics and maintain the complete, classic, incredible feeling of playing this game for the first time. A couple other of my favorites on the system include Pilotwings Resort, Dead Or Alive: Dimensions and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Before the end of the year we're also going to see Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, Starfox 64 3D and Super Mario 3D Land.
Super Mario 3D Land - Releases November
Nintendo has also promised the addition of Game Boy Advance games to hit the 3DS Virtual Console as well in the near future with the first title being my personal favorite Yoshi's Island.
If you don't already own any other DS the 3DS, with this big price drop to only $169.99, is definitely the DS system to buy.

Portal 2, the first person co-op puzzler and one of the highest reviewed games of the year has now dropped in price to $39.99. The price drops affects both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
Although you don't really need to play the first Portal to enjoy the sequel it's still a great time to play through the original. If you're playing on Xbox 360 there are two ways to grab a copy of the original Portal; on the XBOX Live Marketplace for 1200 MS Points or snag a copy of The Orange Box for only $19.99. On the Marketplace the game has been dubbed Portal: Still Alive and includes some extra challenge maps which, once you've beaten the game, are a great way to test out your skills.
The Orange Box - one of the greatest gaming bundles ever - is a great way to play through Portal because you get so much bang for your buck. In addition to Portal, you get Team Fortress 2 and Half Life 2. Team Fortress 2 is the sequel to the PC gaming classic Team Fortress and is one of the best online experiences out there (the map 2fort never gets old). Half Life 2 remains one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time and is considered a benchmark in both storytelling and innovative gameplay. If you feel like the current single player experiences out there aren't satisfying enough, play through Half Life 2 as it really is a breath of fresh air.
The Orange Box (X360, PS3, PC) - $19.99
To reiterate, Portal 2 is now $39.99 and The Orange Box is $19.99.

The Duke is back! And he's already dropped in price!
Duke Nukem Forever, released June 14, 2011 with much anticipation has already come down in price. Previously $59.99, Duke Nukem Forever now sells for $39.99, a whopping $20 savings!
Although the game only received moderate reviews after such a long development phase of roughly 15 years I felt that the game followed through on its promises. A lot of help came from the original voice actor Jon St.John who adds all the personality of The Duke. With this new price drop it's worth it to check out this legendary game character in what is most likely his last game.
While we're talking about Duke Nukem I thought I'd remind the populous that Duke Nukem 3D.. The classic that everyone knows and loves has a remake on XBOX Live Arcade. Duke Nukem 3D on XBLA Sells for 800 Microsoft points and includes tons of new features and awesome online play.

This week we have yet another iteration in the Street Fighter 4 series. Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. This latest release of Street Fighter 4 is mainly for the hardcore fans of the series although newcomers will appreciate additional characters. The game features a lot of minor tweaks and balancing issue that really show how much Capcom cares about their Street Fighter games. It's not new for them to have multiple releases within the same game series. Just look at Street Fighter 2. Even if you're not a die hard fan of Street Fighter 4 and wouldn't know all of the tweaks if they smacked you in the face there's still four new characters to enjoy! This brings the roster to a massive count of 39 playable fighters.
